Greg and Jan Judy are famous for their farming operation that includes of 1400 acres of 16 farms, four owned and 12 leased in Rucker, Missouri. They graze grass genetic South Poll cows, cow/calf pairs, bred heifers, bulls, stockers and a parasite resistant St. Croix hair sheep flock, a goat herd, and Tamworth pigs. They also direct market grass-fed beef, lamb, and pork.
The Judy’s place emphasis is on working in balance with nature and keeping inputs low. They do this by installing bird houses around farms for natural fly and insect control, wean calves and lambs are naturally, and providing their livestock with rich grazing pastures and fresh, clean water every day.
Ultimately, both Greg and Jan Judy have a purpose of creating healthy farms and healthy farmers. They do their best to mimic nature to improve their land, water, and animals “We’re going to build soil, we’re going to regenerate these farms, and we’re going to have a good quality of life.”
Greg shares his success by speaking, writing, and creating videos on his farming business. By promoting his grazing techniques, he hopes to help other ranchers create a lush forage and a sustainable environment. “Giving back to our farming community, to the current generation and the next, drives us to share what we’ve learned – what worked and what didn’t. We want to help you find your path to success.”

Whos research is focused on the development of integrated pest management (IPM) for insect pests in field and horticultural agroecosystems. Dr. Mori’s research strives to provide growers with sustainable pest control strategies that reduces the reliance on insecticides and conserves beneficial species (i.e. natural enemies and pollinators).

Everyone is welcome at the Ag Drone School, from teenagers to retired agronomists, from government environmental agency staff to agtech entrepreneurs. You don’t even need to have a drone — only about ¼ of attendees already have an RPAS, many are just taking the course because they want to learn about it before purchasing anything.
After completion of day two, you will have your legal drone license (If you choose to take the Online Transport Canada test), drone flying experience, and additional information on drone use in the Agriculture industry.
During the course, Land View will talk about the uses & limitations of this technology for agriculture and exactly how you would go about using the data. We’ll discuss what is possible in vegetative remote sensing now and demonstrate exactly what sensors & software you would use on your farm.
Land View’s Ag Drone School deals with every aspect of productive, safe, and legal use of remotely piloted aerial systems by farmers & agronomists. Topics covered include:
- Introduction to Remote Sensing of Vegetation
- NDVI and other vegetative indexes
- Data accuracy: sensor types and calibration
- Future of crop imaging … hyperspec, thermal, machine learning
- From fly to apply: software workflows
- Use cases: the many uses of drones on farms
- Knowledge Requirements for Small Basic Operations:
- Air law, air traffic rules and procedures
- RPAS airframes, power plants, propulsion and systems
- Human factors
- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Flight operations
- Theory of flight
- Radiotelephony

Do you have these questions?
Bring them and other questions to this event and speakers Dr. Kris Nichols and Kimberly Cornish just may answer them.
Join us at 1pm on February 9th at the Manning Legion Hall.
Dr. Kris Nichols and Kimberly Cornish have been mapping carbon throughout Alberta and have measured two locations in the Northern Lights County. At this event they will explain how and why. Dr. Kris Nichols and Kimberly Cornish will explain why carbon is beneficial for farmers and will educate on cropping systems that will influence long-term carbon sequestration.
