Joel Williams –
Joel Williams is a passionate advocate for sustainable agriculture and soil health. He is an independent plant and soil health educator with extensive experience in Australia, the UK, and Canada. Joel specializes in soil management, plant nutrition, and integrated approaches to sustainable food production.
His work focuses on optimizing plant immunity and soil function by managing soil biology alongside crop and soil nutrition. He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science and an MSc in Food Policy, and he has lectured internationally on agroecological pratices. Joel is dedicated to sharing his knowledge through educational resources, workshops, and field days, making complex agricultural concepts accessible and actionable.
Dr. Aziz Ullah –
Dr. Aziz Ullah is a Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in insect ecology, host plant resistance, insecticide resistance, and plant–microbe–insect interactions. His research focuses on developing sustainable pest management strategies for agricultural and forest ecosystems.
Dr. Ullah has conducted extensive research on crucifer flea beetles, including insecticide resistance mechanisms, population genetics, and host plant resistance in canola. His work has identified key biochemical markers associated with resistance and contributed to the development of insect-resistant germplasm. He is also investigating the effects of environmental stressors such as drought on pest management efficacy and crop protection.

Dr. Miles Dyck –
Dr. Miles Dyck is a professor of soil science at the University of Alberta, researching the impacts of agricultural management on soil and crop health and teaching courses in soil physics and soil formation. Growing up on the family farm near Swift Current, Sask., he developed an intense curiosity about soils and an appreciation for the hard work required to run a farm. He is dedicated to executing and sharing results from farm-relevant research.
Dr. Miles Dyck’s topic will be: Common ground: basic soil observations in the field
