When?

Event starts at 9am at the Manning Legion Hall with a presentation. After lunch, Dylan Biggs (TK Ranch) will be conducting a live demonstration on the basics of good handling techniques, and delve further into low-stress techniques. Live demonstration will be held just north of Manning (4 miles west off of highway 35). Lunch included.

When?

Join us for a forage tour at the NPARA research farm on August 5th (10am-3pm). Guest speaker Barry Yaremcio (Yaremcio Ag Consulting Ltd) will do a presentation and accompany for a walking tour of the annual and perennial forage plots. Topics include: crop staging for maximizing cattle gains with annual forages, and the use of alternative feed for ration balancing. Free event. Lunch will be provided.

When?

Join us at the NPARA research farm on the 21st of July for our annual field tour. New trials include: spring camelina, lupins, and corn intercrops. Guest speakers are Melissa Werkema (Future Analytics Inc), and Dan Doll (Alberta Canola Producers Commission). Melissa will present on the benefits of tissue testing via “sap analysis”, a new method for measuring in-crop plant nutritional levels.

When?

Join us at the NPARA research farm on July 20th (9am) for a soil health workshop with Joel Williams (Integrated Soils). In the afternoon, Joel will accompany us, and we will head to Jackknife Creek Farms to visit two fields (cover crop mixture for swath grazing, and barley/annual ryegrass intercrop).

When?

Join us for our first tour of the season! New trials include corn intercropping, camelina variety, lupin variety trials. The tour will also feature renown soil health practitioner and researcher Dr.Abbey Wick, where she will hold a workshop and discuss practical solutions to improve soil health on your farm.

Join us for a free evening webinar on April 13th (7-9pm). Speakers will discuss the latest research on herbicide resistant wild oat. Dr. Shaun Sharpe (AAFC Saskatoon), Nathan Eshpeter (Lead on Wild Oat Action Committee), and Calvin Yoder (Smoky Applied Research and Demonstration Association and Peace River Forage Seed Association) will be presenting.

Where: Morning Session will be held at Manning Legion hall.
Afternoon session will be held at Amicis gardens (Notikewin).

9:00am-10:00am: Registration (Coffee will be served)

10:00am-11:00pm: Lance Ouellette (NPARA) will discuss the implementation of the new manning community garden.

11:00AM-12:00pm: Louise Brister (Northern Lights Fruit and Vegetable Company) will discuss her operation, and share her experience in planning and establishing successful vegetable gardens.

12:00Pm-1:00pm: Lunch will be provided.

1:00pm-3:00pm: Lori Asmussen (Amicis Gardens) will discuss container gardening, establishing annual and perennial flowers. Participants will also have the opportunity to start their own seed beds. seed trays and peat will be provided. Vegetable seed will be available for purchase.
